The actual building was atractive and the pool areas also very nice. The Waldorf name I associate with luxury but in truth this hotel was pretty ordinary. This was my first visit to a Waldorf hotel and I will not rush back to another. I enjoyed Key West but I did find it a bit downmarket in bits and after a couple of days. Again not what Waldorf stands for I suspect.Ī final note just on Key West. Generally anyone poolside was very attentive (as is normally the case where service charges are a factor) and hotel side from good to poor. The local lizards roaming the pool are oversize (at least 12-18 inches) so recommend to those who like local wildlife. Perhaps this is just a feature of beachside hotels. The main thing going for the hotel was its beachfront location and it was a nice touch to have hammocks strung from the palm trees as they were very relaxing.Įating at the outside breakfast area or by the pool was an interesting experience as the brazen local birds would on accassion dive bomb the guests and grab food from plates or even on one occassion from one screaming young girl at poolside. However the rooms were nothing special nor were any of the common areas such as reception, restaurant or bar reflective of the Waldorf name.
